Maritime Festival Author Talk: Heather Campbell

Past Event

Heather Campbell worked at the Battye Library of West Australia History for many years and is a recently retired member of the Professional Historians Association (WA). She and her husband sailed their ex-crayfishing boat Messina, from Fremantle to Townsville, and an account of that trip – Messina News – was published by Hesperian Press in 2003.
Since then Heather has been involved in oral history interviewing, but also in historical research and writing. This talk will tell the story of the steam tug Escort which worked in the Port of Albany 1888-1902, from when it was built in 1884, covering the circumstances of its loss on the south coast as well as the details of its career.
Bookings essential.
