Albany Public Library and WA Poets invite you to the poetry book launches of Barbara Temperton and Maree Dawes.

Barbara Temperton is an award-winning West Australian writer. Her poetry and prose fiction is inspired by the landscapes and stories of the numerous places/spaces she has encountered. She is the author of Southern Edge: Three Stories in Verse (Fremantle Press, 2009) and Going Feral (Fremantle Press, 2002), winner of the Western Australian Premier's Book Award for Poetry.

Barbara was Westerly magazine's poetry editorial advisor from 2009 to 2011; she has worked with song lyrics, on community writing and theatre projects, and as a tutor in English and Creative Writing courses at Edith Cowan University and Curtin University, Perth and the University of Western Australia's Albany Centre. She will be launching her new book Ghost Nets.

Maree Dawes was raised in the wheat belt, and now lives in sight of the Southern Ocean. Maree's first collection Women of the Minotaur (Tactile Books 2008) explored the lives of mistresses in Picasso's life. It was featured on ABC's Poetica in May 2009. Her verse novel BRB which dives into online life in the nineties, was published digitally by Spineless Wonders, in 2014 and was released in print in 2021.

Maree has collaborated with artists, dancers, composers and embroiderers and sold film options on one of her short stories. Her work has focused on internal and external landscapes, being in the natural environment and the emotional journey of being human. She has publications in national and international journals and anthologies and has dabbled in art reviews. She will be launching her new book, Living on Granite.
